Hydrogen production from methanol decomposition over Pt/Al2O3 and ceria promoted Pt/Al2O3 catalysts
We present the activities and selectivities of Pt/Al2O3-based catalysts in the production of hydrogen from methanol through catalytic decomposition. For the decomposition reaction, the Pt and Pd catalysts promoted by ceria exhibit similar activity reaching 100% conversion at 315 C. Promoting with ceria had a positive effect on activity and selectivity. Among all catalysts, the 9% Pt– 10% CeO2/A...

Steam reforming of methanol can be considered as an attractive reaction aiming at hydrogen production for PEM fuel cells. Although Cu/Al-contained catalysts are considerably evaluated in this reaction, further evaluation is essential to evaluate the impact of some promoters like Pt in order to find a comprehensively optimized catalyst. Pt promoter is employed with different methods in this ...

The beneficial effect of hydrogen on CO oxidation over Au catalysts. A computational study.
Density functional theory calculations have been carried out to explore the effect of hydrogen on the oxidation of CO in relation to the preferential oxidation of CO in the presence of excess hydrogen (PROX). A range of gold surfaces have been selected including the (100), stepped (310) surfaces and diatomic rows on the (100) surface. These diatomic rows on Au(100) are very efficient in H-H bon...
